If you're not familiar with these books then there's a really handy 
summary done by
Erik Hornung "The Ancient Egyptian Books of the Afterlife" Cornell 1997
these books quite different to the great confusing jumble that is "The 
Book of the Dead" .
Erik has also written a useful book called "The Secret Lore of Egypt: 
its impact on the West" -
which is sitting on my shelf to be read but seems to have much that 
might be useful to your research without being too
undigestible : )
