Excellent opportunity for dynamic Biostatisticians to work on a high-profile research project in Clinical Biostatistics and develop expertise in Biostatistical Consulting.  

Project: Exploring The Dynamics OF Inter-Relationships Between Clinical & Biochemical Parameters in Type 2 Diabetes Patients. This project is funded by Amylin Pharmaceuticals, USA.

The Queensland Clinical Trials & Biostatistics Centre (www.sph.uq.edu.au/qctbc) was established by the University of Queensland within the School of Population Health in recognition of the need for a specialised centre to promote clinical trials and biostatistical research and services within the region and beyond. QCTBC provides expertise and infrastructure to design, conduct and facilitate high quality clinical trials and biostatistical research with academic and industry collaborators to improve human health outcomes. 

The School of Population Health of the University of Queensland has an international reputation for research and teaching excellence in epidemiology, biostatistics, tropical and international health, nutrition, burden of disease and cost-effectiveness analyses. Research programs are funded by grants from many sources including the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC), Australian Research Council (ARC), the Wellcome Trust, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Atlantic Philanthropies, the World Health Organization (WHO) and the World Bank.

The role: The successful applicant will conduct complex exploratory and modelling exercises using large clinical trials data in the fields of diabetes. This will also include non-trial clinical and biomarker studies. There will be opportunity to pursue Ph. D. Programme within the scopes of this project. The post holders will learn about all aspects of trial design as well as advanced biostatistical applications to conduct novel analyses. The Biostatistician will work closely with the basic scientists and clinicians from industry and academics, and will have the opportunity develop the expertise in biostatistical consulting. The person: Applicants for this position should have an MSc in Mathematical Statistics or Biostatistics with strong methodological background and proven experience in clinical data analysis.  The ability to work under tight deadlines on multiple projects is very important. Experienced Biostatisticians from industry with strong research interest in clinical biostatistics are also welcome to apply. Expertise with SAS and other statistical software like R / STATA is essential. The position is open to international candidates.

Remuneration: This is a full time, fixed term appointment for 12 months in the first instance with a further extension dependent on funding. The remuneration package will at Academic Research Level A which is in the range of $50,698 - $68,768 per annum, plus employer superannuation contributions of 9%.
