Subject: launch of new journal

Dear List Members,

International Journal of Childbirth (Springer Publishing)

We are delighted to announce the forthcoming publication of a new journal, the International Journal of Childbirth which will launch on line in mid October this year and in hard copy, in January 2011. It will be published quarterly and will be the official journal of the International Confederation of Midwives, along with their 93 member organisations. It has an international editorial board, representing childbirth stakeholders and childbirth specialists from all around the world.

The journal will publish high quality, peer reviewed articles with the following aims:

Our new journal will be of interest to midwives, maternity care & neonatal nurses, maternity service users, obstetricians, neonatologists, pediatricians, physiologists, health sociologists, physiotherapists, health economists, biologists and psychologists with an interest in maternal and infant research, maternity service policy makers and managers, academics in the area of childbirth and maternal and women’s health, doulas and traditional birth attendants, childbirth educationalists,  and students of maternity care.

The journal will publish the following types of articles:

We would like to encourage list members to consider submission of manuscripts to the journal. Approximately six original papers will be published per edition, together with shorter articles and reviews. Our deadline for papers is the 30th of June, 2010. At this stage please submit papers as emails attachments to Kerri [log in to unmask] or myself [log in to unmask] until an electronic submission system is in place.

Best wishes,

Denis Walsh
