currently the guidance for submission of abstracts and posters on the
conference website (www.dmu.ac.uk/midwifery2020)
are not available. To assist anyone interested in submitting an abstract by 31st
May 2010, I attach below the guidance in full.

Guidance
for Submission of Abstracts and Posters
Please
follow the instructions carefully when submitting abstracts or posters for
conferences at DMU.
Abstracts
Abstract
Title and Author Details
The
following information should be given at the start of your document:
1. Presenting author’s name, email address and
a contact number should appear at the top of the page. (This information will
not be published)
2. Title of abstract (no more than 150 characters)
– bold type
3.
Full
name(s) and affiliation of all author(s)
N.B
all names and contact details will be removed before abstracts are sent to the
reviewing committee.
Format
of abstract
1. Word limit: 500 words (this does not
include the information provided above)
2. Word document (.doc)
3. The abstract should not include references
4. Use Arial or Verdana
5.
If
your abstract exceeds 500 words it will either be edited or you will be asked
to resubmit a shorter version.
Posters
Poster
can be fixed to the display boards.
Size:
A0
(841 Width × 1189 Height) Must be portrait.
Posters
should be self explanatory
Use
a matt finish rather than glossy
Always
use large visible graphics to ensure that posters can be viewed from a
distance.
Diagrams,
images and table should be clearly labelled with a heading

Essential
additional information should be provided in a legend
All
images should be clear, sharp focus and high contrast
Keep
paragraphs short and to the point. Bullet points are an effective way to convey
a number of points.
Use
a sans serif font
Remember
to caption your poster with the abstract title, authors names and affiliations.
Please
ensure that you submit abstracts and posters before the closing dates specified.
Only 2 papers to be submitted by presenting author and accepted abstracts will
appear in the conference ‘book of abstracts’.
