We use ezproxy to authenticate to almost all our non-Shibbolised resources. This uses staff and students' University accounts so we don't need to provide service specific usernames/passwords for these resources any more. This works seamlessly with our SFX linking, but it does mean users have to use the links on our web pages for accessing these services directly as the service url has to include our proxy url as well.

Hope this helps.

Belatedly,

University of Lincoln does the same thing (login details stored on
secure Intranet page, one for each resource).

We also change the password once every semester.

Regards,
Paul

Hi:

Same thing here at MMU: users are prompted both on-campus and off to
login with their network account and then are able to view the
individual username/password for the individual resource.

Best wishes,
Mary

Hi,

We do the same thing, but users are prompted for their network login
even if they are on campus.

Hi Sarah,

We have a secure webpage which lists all of our non-Athens/Shibboleth
usernames and passwords.

If users are on-site they can see the webpage automatically, if however
they are off-campus they are required to authenticate with their network
login details before the page will display.

I would be interested to hear if anyone has a better way of doing this.

Kind regards

Sarah

Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone could shed any light on how you deal with
individual usernames and passwords, i.e. credentials for resources that
don't use Athens/Shibboleth. We don't have many to worry about, and I
won't reveal to the list how we currently do things, but information on
what others do would be much appreciated. Feel free to be as technical
as you like: our IT folk don't quite get what I'm driving at...

Thanks in advance!

Best wishes,

Sarah
