Research Officer in Hydrogeology 


Based in the School of Environment and Technology, University of
Brighton, you will work on the EU-RDF funded CLIMAWAT project which will
examine the effects of long-term climatic change on the behaviour of
both chemical and microbiological pollutants in chalk and fractured
granite groundwater catchment areas using techniques derived from the
latest research. This project will also focus on the quantification of
groundwater fluxes in response to particular short and long term
climatic events and assess the change in groundwater recharge mechanisms
in response to changes in the amount and duration of rainfall. The
project is joint between the University of Brighton, University of East
Anglia, Universite de Rennes 1, Universite de Brest and CNRS. You will
carry out field (UK and France) and laboratory based research, conduct
basic data collection, disseminate findings by contributing to project
reports, publications and present findings at meetings. You will have a
good (1 or 2:1) degree in Geology, Earth Sciences, Environmental
Sciences or a related subject and have the ability to convey your ideas
and findings clearly.

The post is fixed-term until 31 March 2013. The successful applicant
