We use a company called Microformat
http://www.microformat.co.uk/default.aspx
They do both microfilming and scanning for us.
At present we tend to microfilm archives as we know that the microfilm format is robust and only requires very simple technology for retrieval, particularly where there is o nly a low retrieval requirement.
We select more important series for scanning, but face a challenge into how best to make these materials available as we do not as yet have systems in place to manage a large digital archive.

Hello All This subject has probably been posted many times before but I'm looking into getting a large number (c.8 x four drawer filing cabinets full) of membership forms either digitised or microfilmed. I'm leaning towards microfilming as an option as, although it is more old fashioned, it is a tried and tested format which has a longer preservation lifespan. Has anyone else been faced with a similar quandary? Also could anyone recommend any digitisation or microfilming companies they've used in the past?
