Alex Owen's "The Place of Enchantment: British Occultism and the Culture of the Modern" (U Chicago Press, 2004) has some very good things, particularly her chapter 6 on Crowley's Chorozon working, with reflections on the Edwardian individual. Check out Gordon Melton's "Encyclopedia of American Religions" and "Handbook of Cults"(sic) for general background and contact info - both published by Institute for the Study of American Religion at UC Santa Cruiz IIRC.
