Dear
Colleague,

13th
May 2010
National
Railway Museum Conference Centre, York
http://www.ukcge.ac.uk/events/eventsarea/ethics2010
This
workshop will review the key strategies and materials required for a
“Toolkit” for Research Ethics training of academic staff and
research managers in HEIs. Overviews of policies from the Research Councils,
NHS (including the Research Passport Scheme) will cover latest developments in
Research Ethics and Research Governance in Higher Education Institutions.
Topics to be covered will include IPR issues and best practice for ethical
publishing, ethical issues in clinical research, and the implementation of
effective “whistle-blowing” policies designed to protect the
“whistle-blower”. The need to accurately reflect current
legislation in the process of making robust decisions on Research Ethics will
also be reviewed in the context of developing a web-based decision-tree
approach. The need to reflect differing ethical perspectives and best practice
when developing Research Ethics training programmes will form an essential
focus in this workshop.
This
programme has been designed for academic staff, research supervisors and
administrative staff involved with or managing, supporting or supervising
research students including: Graduate Deans, Research Supervisors, Research
Managers, Administrative and Staff Development personnel. There will be ample
opportunity to network with fellow professionals during the Workshop which
takes place at one of York's flagship venues.
The cost of the workshop is £175 for UKCGE Members and £225 for non-members. This price includes lunch,
refreshments and a delegate pack.
