Alex
At TWC my SIRO sits at Senior Management Level and Deputy at
middle management level in line with the Data Handling requirements, he is the
Head of Governance (my senior manager) and has “SIRO” responsibility for the
areas listed below.
They are all intricately linked so you may wish to suggest 1
person for all (i.e. if you don’t do info security you will by association
breach DPA, if you don’t know what info you hold/manage – RM – how do you know
appropriate security controls are in place (P7 DPA) same for information
sharing).
Many thanks

Subject: Role of SIRO and where it sits
Dear
all,
I
would like to make a quick straw poll of those in local government of where the
Senior Information Risk Owner (SIRO) sits. Does the role sit under the
role of the Chief Executive or does it sit under the role of a nominated Senior
Manager (Director or Assistant Director). If it sits in Senior Management
does the same person also have responsibility for record management, IT, Data
Protection, etc?
Any
information will be very much appreciated.
Kind
regards,
Alex
