Institute of Astro- and Particle Physics of the University
of Innsbruck in Austria invites applications for several research 
positions (PhD).

The positions are within the framework of the doctoral programme

    "Computational Interdisciplinary Modelling".

This project is bringing together mathematicians, computer scientists,
engineers and physicists within an interdisciplinary framework.

We contemplate the following topics:
* Extragalactic Astrophysics:
  - Dynamics and evolution of galaxies and clusters of galaxies
  - Interaction of galaxies with the intra-cluster medium
  - Enrichment of the intra-cluster medium

* Astroparticle Physics:
  - Numerical modelling of galactic diffuse gamma-ray emission
    processes using a structured model of the Milky Way
  - Particle cascades in air showers and imaging techniques for
    next-generation Cherekov telescopes

* Stellar Astrophysics:
  - Extreme stages of stellar evolution in winds and explosions
  - Circumstellar discs

We are open for topical refinements with the applicants.

The appointment may start as early as summer or autumn 2010 and will be for
three years. Applications including a CV, publication list, two letters of
