Hi everyone,

My thoughts on the secrets of engaging teenagers with science
http://2020science.org/2010/04/13/im-a-scientist-get-me-out-of-here/

I wrote this guest blog post on this for the 2020science blog in the
States. To be honest, when I sent it off I thought I hadn't expressed
myself that well, and I was only repeating the things I usually bang on
about to anyone who will listen. However, it seems to have connected
with people cos it's been shared loads on twitter - even by Lord
Drayson, a proud moment for us!

So I thought maybe some of you might find it interesting/useful.

If you're interested, there's still time to register for the June event!

    * Scientist info and registration (closes on 26th April)
      http://imascientist.org.uk/for-scientists
    * Teacher info and registration (closes on 3rd May)
      http://imascientist.org.uk/for-teachers

The event is FREE to schools, funded by the lovely Wellcome Trust

Also, if you are a teacher, or you work with teachers, please note that
our all new, improved site lets anyone browse all the questions to the
scientists and their answers. This archive can be a useful (and
permanent) resource for teachers who want their students to learn more
about real and current science, and also, what it's like to be a
scientist. They might even realise that scientists are 'just like normal
people'.

Some examples of the questions:-

Do you think that science can ever completely understand human
emotion and its link to the brain?

    Why do we laugh?

Is there an end to a rainbow ?
    http://hydrogen.imascientist.org.uk/2010/03/is-there-an-end-to-a-rainbow-from-leeanne/

Do you have, or have you had, any regrets about becoming a scientist?
    http://genes.imascientist.org.uk/2010/03/do-you-have-of-have-you-had-any-regrets-about-becoming-a-scientist/

How can you use embryonic stem cells to treat diseases?

Feel free to get in touch if you'd like to know any more about the project!

Best wishes,

Sophia
