Hello,
Yes you do need to register your details, but that just comes to us so we can see who is downloading what, it doesn't mean anything more than that!
Hope you find it useful

All sounds very impressive but the website is telling me that I need to register to download your publications?

Hello All

As some of you will know, this is exactly what the construction industry have done.
It certainly didn't happen over night, involving a lot of expertise and a 2 year pilot study, but the standards were produced including a matrix showing job type down the side and health surveillance along the top, with ticks indicating legal requirement, best practice etc.
If you wish to access it and the industry standards you can do so from our website:
www.constructingbetterhealth.co.uk

If anyone wants further information please feel free to contact me.

Kind regards
Wendy

Hi Campbell,

It would be a useful tool, particularly for small to medium sized businesses who do not have their own OH provider.
I too think that it could be either too general or too complicated.

I have been mulling the idea over for a few weeks and think that each 'occupational group' would be started off with a general description of the work and the most common exposures encountered.
The next section would go on to describe health surveillance needs, with advice on checking MSDS, Exposure standards etc.

I have queried this with SafeWork Australia, same as UK's HSE and they have nothing like this. Additionally the Australian Institute of Occupational Hygienists appear to have nothing.

I think I'll give it some more thought and see if I can develop the idea further. It's going to take a lot of research and collaboration though.

I am sure it would be a fantastic tool if it did exist,
But can't help but feel it might be too generalist,
Or conversely far too complicated.

I know there is a lot of information out there, but has anyone come across a website which lists health surveillance needs by occupation.

Thanks,
