Hi all
I would also be interested in views as a company I am working
with is also looking at this issue. From feedback I have heard from others,
Cohort appears to be much preferred over others in the market, although it
appears, not for everyone.
From previous experience of paper and paperless (oh providers
own) systems, my view is that is has be all or nothing. If you are going to
use an IT system it has be the core of everything you do, you have all the
training you can afford, everyone has a login (none of this “I’ll
log on in the morning and then you can in the afternoon” tosh), all
external correspondence received into the department is scanned and the paper
is as good as locked away from Day 1. Only then will it work. The moment
someone tries to keep a paper diary as a back up or can’t update the
system in real time, you’ve lost it, and might aswell return to full time
paper otherwise duplication rules your day. You should also be able to use it
as a workflow management system so yes, it should flag up when someone has
arrived provided the receptionist has put the message in your workflow.
Thanks
Lindsey

We’re
going that way too – any advice on a good system would be gratefully
received. We too struggle with cohort but we accept that we don’t use it
to its potential. We have a training day soon to explore what it can do for us.
Any
of you using cohort – can it wok like the GP system where the person
reports to reception, receptionist enters the person has arrived and the system
immediately flags it up to the clinician?
Thanks
Judith

Our Experience with Cohort is not good. Our attempt to go paper
lite has resulted in duplication of multiple tasks and a general distrust of
the system. However… I’m not sure that the system is entirely to
blame. From previous experience we have had paperless systems, the director
just decided that this is what we were going to do and had to drive to just
change it. He had the enthusiasm and determination to drive it through, there
was no option to do anything different.

We are

paperless.
I would be
really grateful for any opinions about any of the three following systems;
Cohort
Orchid and
Opas
