Postdoctoral researcher wanted: noble gases in Martian met
Post-doctoral research associate: water-rock interaction on Mars

The aim of the project is to characterize the products of aqueous alteration in Martian meteorites and, using state-of-art analytical techniques, determine the composition and timing of fluid movement through the Martian crust. This will be achieved by a combination of high-resolution petrography of alteration mineral assemblages, fluid inclusion studies, 40Ar/39Ar geochronology as well as noble gas and stable isotope determinations.

The researcher will be based at the Scottish Universities Environmental Research Centre but will work closely with collaboraters at University of Glasgow and Natural History Musem, London.  The candidate should ideally possess knowledge and laboratory experience of noble gas isotope geochemistry and/or high resolution microscopy techniques.

It is a 36 month position, starting on 1st September 2010 or as soon as possible thereafter.

Informal enquiries to me ([log in to unmask]).  Detail of the position and application procedure is at http://www22.i-grasp.com/fe/tpl_glasgow01.asp
