Project Officer - Training for midwives on working with refugee and asylum
seeking women
Salary: £30 000 p.a.
Maternity Action is a national charity working to challenge inequality and
promote wellbeing for all pregnant women, new mothers and their families.
As Senior Project Officer, you will be developing and piloting a training
course for midwives and other maternity staff on working with refugee and
asylum seeking women. The training will be developed in consultation with
refugee and asylum seeking women, with specialist refugee and asylum seeker
services; with practicing midwives and the Royal College of Midwives; and with
staff from SHAs and PCTs.
You will be responsible for developing effective relationships with health
services and health professionals; engaging with community organisations
working with refugee and asylum seeking women; developing, piloting and delivering
the training; developing a plan for dissemination of the training; negotiating
accreditation for the training; and disseminating learnings from the
project.
You must have at least three years experience in a project management role,
experience of developing and delivering training, experience of working in
partnership with voluntary organisations, and demonstrable knowledge of either
improving access to healthcare or the experiences of refugees and asylum
seeker. In addition, you will need excellent community engagement skills
and written and spoken communication skills.
