Visit to the Museum of English Rural Life (MERL), Reading

Monday 26th April 2010, 2pm - 4.30pm

Cost: Free

MERL houses the most comprehensive national collection of material relating to the history of food, farming and the countryside.

Delegates will:

*       see what is available at The Museum of English Rural Life (MERL) to help local and family historians find information on farms and the countryside
*       tour their collections of objects, books, photographs, film and sound recordings
*       visit MERL's archive, which includes material from farms, major agricultural manufacturing firms, agricultural organisations and cooperatives from across England
*       visit the University of Reading's Rare Books Collection.
*       Rhianedd Smith will give us a talk on her work with volunteers at MERL and further afield.

LSG South's AGM will follow the event at 4.30pm.
