The University of Nottingham invites applications for its interdisciplinary Doctoral Training Centre. This is a four year PhD programme, including a taught components and an interdisciplinary focus, with investigators from Computer Science, the Centre for Geospatial Science, Human Factors, the Learning Sciences Research Institute and others. We also have industrial involvement from BBC, BT, EADS Astrium, IBM, Logica, Microsoft, Network Rail, Nokia, Ordnance Survey and others. The DTC's research focus is ubiquitous and pervasive computing and includes relevant aspects of positioning and geospatial science. We aim to build a cohort of students from a range of backgrounds and previous disciplines. UK research council funding is provided for 10-15 students each year (with associated standard limitations on funding for non-UK and non-EU students) and we welcome applications from sponsored or self-funded students. The closing date for applications is Wednesday 9th June 2010.
