Profession Geographic
or geospatial information has become part of everyday life and
is a growing worldwide phenomenon. No longer is GI the
preserve of highly skilled professionals, instead many people
in society use it on a daily basis, sometimes
unknowingly.

Launch of Contaminated Land Guidance Note -
rescheduled 24 May 2010 For
those of you who were unable to attend, please note this event
has been rescheduled. The Guidance Note is being launched at a
free event to update members on key legislation and best
practice in relation to a wide range of environmental issues,
particularly contaminated land.

Land Surveyors needed for Haiti Recovery
Programme RICS
members will be aware of RICS' involvement in disaster
recovery projects and close relationship with kindred
organisations such as MapAction. RICS BuildAction is now
looking to upgrade and populate its database of Chartered Land
Surveyors and AssocRICS land surveyors who would be prepared
to volunteer their skills in post disaster recovery
programmes.

The Marine Management Organisation was
established at midnight on 1 April The
new executive non-departmental public body has been created
under the Marine and Coastal Access Act 2009, bringing
together key marine decision-making powers and delivery
mechanisms to provide an integrated method of planning,
regulating and licensing activity in the marine
area.
