Yes, I can see your point. Especially, if they are now married or in a
relationship - explaining to their partner maybe difficult if they become
aware of the request.

Maybe someone else has a suggestion.

I don't think addresses will be up to date (there is a possibility if they 
are a member of our alumni database).

It has also occurred to me that, as we do not have a name, writing to all 
men of that nationality from that era could cause distress to those men 
even if there is no possibility of them being the father.
