Apologies for cross postings...
The Department of Geography's Cities Group at King's College
London will be hosting its annual lecture on Thursday May 13th 2010, in the
Edmond J. Safra Lecture Theatre, Main Building, King’s College London, Strand,
17.30-19.00.
The lecture will be given by Professor Jamie Peck,
University of British Columbia, about 'The Creative City':
An unflinching critique of the recently popularized
notion of the ‘creative city’ is developed. The geographic reach
and political salience of this near-ubiquitous development fix is explained not
in terms of its intrinsic merits, which can be challenged on a number of grounds,
but as a symptom of an emergent regime of ‘fast’ urban policy
formation.
The lecture will be followed by a wine reception. All
are welcome. For further details see: www.kcl.ac.uk/schools/sspp/geography/research/cities.
