Are you interested in how archives can promote themselves? Does your
archive service do all it can to reach new users? Do you want to work
with community and other local groups?

There are still some places left on the distance learning module
Outreach and Community Archives, offered by the Centre for Archive and
Information Studies (CAIS) at the University of Dundee. The module is
delivered via an interactive, fully-supported virtual-learning

applications is the 9th April with courses beginning on the 17th May.

In the module you will cover

●	What outreach is, what sorts of activities it involves and how
it can be delivered.
●	The planning needed for a successful outreach programme, how to
manage different activities and how to successfully bid for funding.
●	How to gather data about existing audiences, and the local
population, and use this to write an audience development plan.
●	What community archives are, the potential for working with them
and the opportunities and challenges they represent to the formal
archive sector.
●	Positioning your activities to take account of organisational
and governmental agendas.

The module lasts for 13 weeks and is one of many that are part of our
accredited masters programmes and that can be taken as CPD. For more
