The Martin Miller and Hannah Norbert-Miller Bursary
for Doctoral Study at the IGRS

Applications are invited from suitably-qualified graduates who wish to focus their research on German-speaking exile in the UK, with a preference for a topic relating to the performing arts. An advanced knowledge of German is essential. The successful candidate, who will register at the Institute of Germanic & Romance Studies for the PhD/MPhil degree of the University of London, will be able to draw on the expertise of the Institute's Research Centre for German and Austrian Exile Studies.

The award, which is available for three years' full-time or six years part-time study from October 2010, is funded by the Martin Miller and Hannah Norbert-Miller Trust. The award covers tuition fees and maintenance.

Applicants should send a cv, an outline of their research proposal, and arrange for two academic references to be sent direct to Jane Lewin at the IGRS. The closing date for receipt of applications and references is 5 p.m. on Friday, 21 May 2010. Shortlisted candidates are expected to be interviewed in June.
