Hello Lin, you could use an absolute threshold of 0.1. Just compare the resulting mask with your initial brainmask to check, if that is (visually) about the core voxels you want to test. The "m" in the filename "smwc1.nii" file name suggests that modulation has been performed. You should check in the SPM8 manual how that step is switched on and off.
