Dear Mico, This sounds like a cue to suggest you join the Association of British Science Writers, a vibrant body of professionals and students who care enormously about the 'next' generation of science writers - enough to include a student rep on its committee, and to welcome student members to attend its AGM, briefings, and the forthcoming UK Conference of Science Journalists on 23rd July 2010. At the same time the Guardian Student Media Awards never had a 'best science writer' category, which seems a shame, especially when you're an aspiring student science journalist... But then again, there seems to be little support for, or interest in student science journalism by the professional science writing community in the UK.
