Our conservators insist on acid free card so the last lot was made from
a new supplier - the same one mentioned by Alison:

Angela

Try G.Ryder & Co Ltd - we get our bespoke boxes for open rack storage
from them, in a strong, low acid board at very reasonable cost. They can
make whatever size you want - Tel: 01908 375524.

Good Luck!

Subject: Storage boxes

Hi

The storage boxes that we use on our open racking are made of thick card
and are approx 340mm x 455mm x 165mm. They are really good strong boxes
and I would like to get hold of some more of a similar size, but we have
had them for so long that no-one knows where they are from. I have had a
look at the PEL, Conservation Resources and Conservation by Design
websites but have not been able to find what I am looking for (although
I have to admit it was taking so long that I didn't look at everything).
They seem to be more for archives than museums and not really suitable
for heavy bulky objects.

Does anyone know of a good source of suitable boxes? I would prefer a
similar size to what we've got, but we can go for something different as
long as it fits the purpose.

Many thanks in advance

Angela
