Agreed that the church dedication should have an apostrophe, but it is not always used by authors / commentators. 
 
Anyway, this is not the point of the list, nor the point of the question.

As in "St Albans" where an "S minus apostrophy" is the correct spelling of the city but one writes of "Saint Alban's martyrdom" or indeed "St Alban's Abbey" (or is it "St Albans Abbey" ????  Perhaps it is "Saint Alban's Abbey" but "St Albans Abbey"  (:-)))
 
It's a minefield. Jon is right. Use the OS !! Ignore the grammarians They weren't even born when these things were laid down.

in placenames locally-specific usage is everything, as any glance at an OS map will show you. I treat apostrophes as coming and going over the centuries and use the OS if I want to establish a modern standard for any one place - never making a grammatically-based assumption about what that standard should be; this is standard practise for editors/proofreaders.
