Music for the terrified: your fears dispelled

This is a day course designed for anyone working with music in libraries who feels they lack basic music knowledge. The emphasis will be on dealing with and understanding 'classical' music, but there will be the opportunity to carry out exercises in all kinds of music enquiry work.  


By the end of the day, participants will:
-be able to identify common terminology used in music enquiries
-be able to identify the types of material required by different types of user
-have some knowledge of sources of information for music enquiries
-have a better understanding of what is expected of staff working in a music library

Sessions will include: terminology (music genres, keys, types of score, etc.), music in library catalogues, music enquiries and information sources (printed and electronic), and practical exercises.
