Hi Paul, I think a current and general challenge for developers is to become more adept at tackling usability. If you want to involve non-developers, why not invite repository users, usability/UX specialists to join the developers and have an impromptu inspection, and a bash on enhancing the usability of repositories? The bash could also involve evaluation of quick/low-fi mockups or even implementation of any useful features/enhancements; both developers/non-developers alike can experience aspects of user-centred development. And there is likely to be a variety of repository UI/systems already available, and they are likely to have usability issues! One important aspect of this year's challenge is that we are keen to involve non-developers, working closely with developers. > > I would be grateful if you could take a moment to read the post and leave a comment if you have a point of view or an idea for a challenge to share. This is your opportunity to make a case for focussing a pool of developer talent and domain expertise on the technical issue you would like to see addressed. > > Thanks, > > Paul > > -------------------------------------------- > Paul Walk > Deputy Director > UKOLN (University of Bath) > http://www.ukoln.ac.uk/ > [log in to unmask] > +44(0)1225383933 > -------------------------------------------- > -- The University of Edinburgh is a charitable body, registered in Scotland, with registration number SC005336.
