italian-studies: Scholarly discussions in any field of Italian studies As universities and school districts become more and more mercenary and managerial, academic and family life is rendered increasingly impossible. Nearly twenty years ago I renounced my tenured professorship and ten years ago founded a library where I teach immigrants the alphabet, how to write their names and how to write books in four languages - this is enormously rewarding - while continuing research, editing, writing and publishing.
