Dear HSS members This is just to remind you that the deadline for proposals for this year's colloquium is at the end of this month (31 March). Details at http://www.henrysweet.org/colloquium.html The colloquium will be held between 9 and 11 September in Sheffield. The Leslie Seiffert lecture will be given by Prof. John Joseph who will be discussing his new biography of Saussure, and biography writing will be a theme of the colloquium. Accommodation will be in the University's brand-new Edge development which offers state of the art conference facilities and en-suite accommodation. The countryside around Sheffield can boast some of England's finest and most significant country houses (e.g. Chatsworth House, Hardwick Hall), and a visit to one of these may form part of the programme. Please do get in touch if you would like more information. Andrew -- Professor Andrew R.
