We have been involved in clinical trials there.
Polish doctors are not paid well, and when there is good care available,
patients will queue up for miles (not literally).
It is possible that your relative may have to offer an incentive to the
attending doctors to obtain the best care.
In the field that I have been involved in, the standards of care are
fine, but the difficulties have been related to getting access to modern
treatments, because of costs.
Most of the hospitals I have visited have been a bit grim, and were
built under the socialist regime, but inadequate public finance has been
given to them recently to bring them up to modern standards.
