Hi all A number of us are running a session at the AGU 'Meeting of the Americas' at the Iguacu Falls, Brazil, during August 8-13th that may be of interest to a number of you. Details of the session follow T02, Amalgamating Western Gondwana It is increasingly clear that Gondwana amalgamated in Ediacaran -Cambrian times along a series of separate orogens that sutured small, Indian-sized, continents. The geography of this period is fundamental in understanding the origin and distribution of Neoproterozoic petroleum, Ediacaran oceanography & climate, & in testing the bio-provinciality of the Cambrian explosion. This session will address the topic by specific & integrated studies of Neoproterozoic-Cambrian palaeogeography and by unravelling the orogens that formed during Gondwana amalgamation. Papers addressing the wider implications for differing geographies in the Ediacaran world are also encouraged. We are also putting together a special volume for the journal 'Gondwana Research'. Do come along - it's going to be a great meeting. Note that abstracts are due by 31ST MARCH - so get writing!!! http://www.agu.org/meetings/ja10/ cheers Alan Collins Ricardo Trindade Marly Babinski Eric Tohver
