All Party Parliamentary Disability Group

Disability Equality in the New Parliament
Tuesday 2 March, 4-5pm
Committee Room 8

With the General Election approaching, and in the context of the implementation of the Equality Bill and new equality duties as well as the recent introduction of the UN Disability Convention, the question on disabled people’s minds is, how will the new Parliament take forward disability equality?

Speakers: Jonathan Shaw MP, Minister for Disabled People, Mark Harper MP, Disability Spokesperson for the Conservatives, and John Barrett, Disability Spokesperson for the Liberal Democrats.

Each of the main political party’s disability spokespeople will talk to the Group about their proposals for taking forward disability equality post the 2010 General Election. Baroness Campbell and Roger Berry MP have invited disabled people to send in their top 5 priorities, to which they’ve asked the disability spokespersons to respond.

We hope to see you on the 2nd of March.

Marije Davidson APPDG Secretariat on behalf of APPDG Chairs Baroness Campbell and Roger Berry MP.
