Just posted on Hawktalk: Do local authorities spend nearly half a billion
pounds on ineffective CCTV? : Earlier this week, Gordon Brown positioned
Labour's stance on "Law and Order" in order to label those who are more
reflective as being "soft" on the issue. One of his arguments related to
CCTV and I have to admit, in this regard, I am a "card carrying softie".....

ALSO UPDATE YOUR DATA PROTECTION KNOWLEDGE FOR £95: Amberhawk and
PinsentMasons are pleased to announce the next set of DATA PROTECTION UPDATE
sessions on 12 April (London), 26 April (Manchester) and 10 May (Edinburgh)
at Pinsent Masons offices. The cost is a recession-busting £95+VAT per
place.

These day-long Updates fall just before the General Election and all
political parties will put forward something in their manifestos on privacy,
whether it is "countering the surveillance state" or a fully fledged a "Bill
of Rights". So what is the relationship between data protection and the
Article 8 "privacy" right? Turn up and find out! We have organised a high
quality guest speaker for each event.

We expect a high demand and places are limited, especially given the
topicality of the day. You will also be able to discuss issues with leading
DP experts for the day (Rosemary Jay, Chris Pounder, Louise Townsend, Sue
Cullen and William Malcolm).

Details of the UPDATES are on <http://www.amberhawk.com> www.amberhawk.com
(as well as details of our data protection, FOI and onsite courses). We have
updated all our course brochures.

Chris
