The Discipline of Geography at NUI Galway invites applications for a 2-year University Fellowship (Teaching and Research).

An active research profile and PhD is essential for the post, while appropriate teaching experience is desirable.


The successful candidate will be expected to teach at all levels, to be involved in field classes and administration and to contribute to the research activities of the School of Geography & Archaeology, as well as to relevant research clusters across the University.

We should like to appoint to the post a suitable candidate with demonstrable expertise especially in developmental geography. In particular, we seek to appoint a colleague with the ability critically to integrate major themes in the literature on development with environmental concerns in a globalising world.

All members of staff in the Discipline are involved in research activities funded by international bodies, ranging from the EU to a host of national, regional and local agencies.

Salary: €35,582 p.a. (Year 1)
           €36,781 p.a. (Year 2)

Note: An annual grant of up to €12,000 will be provided to the University Fellow (Teaching and Research), which may be availed of, within the period of the appointment subject to provisions, to further her/his research profile.
