‘OUTSTANDING’
Ofsted November 2008 – “a buzz of excitement pervades the school”
Teacher of Latin / Classical Civilisation
An enthusiastic teacher of Classics is required for
September 2010. This post would suit a newly qualified teacher or experienced
teacher alike.
The subject is promoted enthusiastically throughout the
school, and the department takes an active role in all opportunities for cross
curricular events. Latin is extremely popular in KS3 and KS4, recruiting
healthy numbers in both key stages. Classical Civilisation is a popular
choice Post-16. Students who study Classics have the opportunity of attending
many trips and study days throughout the academic year including residential
trips to Italy, visiting Bath and VI form lecture days in London.
The successful candidate will be an effective classroom
practitioner and be committed to enabling all students to achieve their full
potential. OFSTED 2008 commented that students have a “willingness to
participate in the wide range of opportunities available to them, to show
initiative and to assume responsibility”. Behaviour was found to be
“exemplary”.
