Archives Education at the Cutting Edge: Archives for Edcuation and Learning Group Annual Conference and AGM

10.00am          Ben Walsh: Archives at the Cutting Edge

It has never been more important for the cultural sector to bring its collections and expertise to the widest possible audience. Building cultural capital can help to promote the self esteem of a student and can be a starting point for better understanding between communities. This session looks at the ways in which various archives and museums have used cutting edge technology as the vehicle to engage young people in studying, enjoying and making use of archive collections.

 11.45am          Mary Mills: Changes in the History curriculum (in England) and how they can help us to 'sell' archives to teachers. 

 12.30pm          Martyn Farrows, Magic Studio: From the collection to the classroom: using the web to engage directly with teachers and learners

 

13.15pm          Lunch 

 

14.00pm          Katy Iliffe, Sedbergh School:  "Archives for Infants: Education projects with Sedbergh Junior School". 

 14.45pm          Peter Eyre and Guy Woolnough. Their Past Your Future. Cumbria at War  Intergenerational learning project
