Public Health Statistician


 

The post holder will work closely with the Head of Information and Intelligence and the Public Health Information Team Leader to provide statistical modelling and analyses and provide reports on these to underpin action on health inequalities and health and wellbeing issues across Birmingham including health and social care. The post holder will as part of this provide a statistical consultancy service.  The post holder will provide statistical expertise and analyses to the Joint Strategic Needs Assessment.

 

There will be the opportunity to develop training skills and provide training to others. The post holder will assist with the identification of indicators and service specifications in order to achieve national and local health and social care targets.

 

The post holder will support the BHWP Executives and its priority work streams, liaising with partner organisations and with internal bodies to ensure appropriate links with central Government, regional initiatives and academic research.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

 

1.       Support staff in the preparation of high quality research proposals, analyses and reports.  

2.       Advise on and undertake modelling, analysis and interpretation of data as appropriate

3.       Develop core models and sensitivity test them for the Joint Strategic Needs Assessment, Equity Audits, Impact Analyses, Benchmarking and future-casting scenarios of commissioning including options appraisals.

4.       To develop and sensitivity test statistically robust decision support models and tools for commissioners, decision makers and public health colleagues.
