All I have had a query from a junior school related the retention of pupil records at the end of year 6. At the end of year 6 the records are passed to the secondary school as the pupil moves forward in to year 7. The junior school, at the moment, keeps a copy of the record. My question is should the school keep a copy of this record and if they are required to how long should they keep it? I suspect there is some underlying legislation of which I am not aware.
