Are myth busters the new generation of civic scientists?

AAAS 2010 Annual Meeting

Marriott Hotel

Marina Ballroom F

10.30 - 11.30 am

Sunday, February 21st 2010

Should all scientists confront bad science?

Will it create public scepticism or cynicism?

How does it affect the relationship between scientists and the media?

Evidence hunting scientists campaigns and campaigns debunking medical myths
have attracted widespread media attention. The panel will discuss whether
myth busting is the future of the civic scientist and whether this will
raise the quality of scientific debate.

Speakers:

Daniella Muallem, Voice of Young Science

Mike Hanlon, The Daily Mail

Tracey Brown, Sense About Science
