Hi Jane,

Welcome to my world! I am also a non-driver but this hasn’t really posed any problems for me, although public transport is unreliable and can cause me to be late on occasion.

I previously worked in the NHS so I know what you mean regarding easy access to medical staff, expert advice etc but hopefully any prospective future employer will have some mechanisms set up for you to be able to refer appropriately to external agencies, experts etc. If not, look up local care providers such as A&E departments, travel clinics, GP surgeries, counseling services etc so that you can build up your own network….you will need to liaise with these agencies first but most companies will have some referral systems in place, particularly larger companies.

Good luck!

Rita

Subject: OHA and working from home

I would like to know if any from the list work as an OHA from home. Due to complicated reasons I am unable to  and never have been able to drive and (unrelated) I am leaving my present NHS job. I have seen jobs advertised for  home working , mainly phone consultations and would like anyone’s experience of doing this. I am currently leaving a secure job in the NHS which has all the multi disciplinary teams to hand ! I don’t suppose there are any other OH professionals out there who do not have the ability to drive?

Thank you Jane
