Hi Rachel

I recently went on a free course run by posturite and a legal company on this topic.

My interpretation was if you do any work on any computer between your contracted hours you are a user and your employer is obliged to perform a risk assessment.

One speaker had a fabulous policy on "smart" working, which was essentially anyone who wasnt nailed to the main site office desk so it encompassed remote working, home working, train working, plane working, hot desking etc etc
I will see if I can find the name of the chap as he was happy to share his policies.

Colleagues

I wonder if you might share your thoughts on DSE responsibility for the above.

One co l undertake work for have indicated that by calling their employees ‘remote’ as opposed to’ home’ workers that they may not hold responsibility for undertaking their DSE assessments and then actioning any outstanding issues that arise.

Their employees are essentially based from home, but go to client sites with laptops and then do reports from home. They can also hot desk in a local office if required, but most do not.

 Any thoughts welcome

Thanks
