Come and celebrate the 40th anniversary of the first national Women’s Liberation Conference at the Free Word Centre. On February 27th 1970 more than 500 women met at Ruskin College in Oxford for the first National Women’s Liberation Movement conference. This extraordinary event reflected the radicalism, diversity, dissent and sisterhood of women at the beginning of one of the most transformative movements of the 20th century. The Way We Were and Are will explore History, Ordinary Lives, Power, and Sex, looking at how things have changed since 1970.To book 020 7324 2570 or [log in to unmask] Friday 26 February 6.30pm – 8.00pm SEX Panel: Julie Bindell, Juliet Mitchell, Lynne Segal - Chair: Natasha Walter Saturday 27 February 10.30 –4.00pm HISTORY (10.30–11.45am) Panel: Sally Alexander, Catherine Hall, Imogen Lee - Chair: Antonia Byatt ORDINARY LIVES (12.00–1.15pm) Panel: Mary Chamberlain Rahila Gupta, Catherine Redfern - Chair: Ursula Owen POWER (2.30–3.45pm) Panel: Bea Campbell, Finn Mackay, Lola Young - Chair: Jo Glanville Friday 26 February 6.30pm – 8pm £6 (inc. wine) Saturday 27 February 10.30am – 4.30pm £25 (inc. lunch) Concessions and free creche available on Saturday 27 To book 020 7324 2570 or [log in to unmask] Free Word Centre 60 Farringdon Road, London EC1R 3GA (nearest tube Farringdon Station) www.freewordonline.com Free Word is marking the anniversary of the Women’s Movement with two screenings of artists films and videos at 6.30pm on Mon 1 March and Mon 8 March.
