Sorry all,

The book should be called"The Monkey King Chinese for 5-7 years old", a little book with a CD and a pack of flash cards.

Thanks,

Lily Deng

Dear Nick,

I have been teaching Reception class and Year 1 children, one lesson a week.  There isn't any ready made resource targeting non-native speakers on the market as far as I know. But I have seen a book called "Monkey Chinese" for 5-7 years old, and it can be referenced from time to time.  I adapted KS2 SOW for languages, and added a lot of art and crafts, singing and dancing into my lessons.

The students who I teach don't learn French so I can't comment on adapting the French SOW. I think it is also a good idea to try if the French teacher finds it working well.

I hope it is of some help to you.

Regards,

Dear all,

I have been asked to teach Mandarin in my school to a Reception class and 11 Year 1 children. They have previous experience of learning French. Does anyone know if there is a scheme of work or lesson plans available for teaching Mandarin to EYFS/KS1?

I have considered adapting a French scheme of work designed for EYFS/KS1 but changing the words to Mandarin and the aims to focus on learning to Chinese culture.

Thank you kindly for any support or advice that you can offer.

Yours sincerely,

Nick Ostheimer
