IAPL –
The
International Association for Philosophy and Literature (IAPL) is having its
2010 annual conference at the University of Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada, 24-30
May. I am writing as a member of the Executive Committee to invite you to
consider chairing one of the following General Sessions:
Cultures of Cruelty
(papers on Nietzsche and Artaud)
Traumatic
Narratives/Belated Futures (papers on Celan, the Holocaust, Conrad, Khadra)
Globalizing Cultures
(papers on cultural accommodation and difference, cultural macro-narcissism,
ideology, fear of the Other and the relation between technology and nature)
Travelling Nations
(papers on Chinese National history, the national stakes in the writing of
Hispanic philosophy, American national myths, tourism and Italian Canadian
writing, travelling, imagination and memory)*
* Please note that
sessions are finalized only after registration.
The
overall theme for the IAPL 2010 conference is “Cultures of Differences:
national/indigenous/historical”. Please check the IAPL website ( www.iapl.info)
to find out more about it.
As of
this year, chairs can give a 15-min. opening presentation, contextualizing the
issues raised by the papers and throwing into relief any connections between
them. Our hope is that this can help people secure funding to attend the
conference from their host institution.
If
anyone is interested in coming to
If you
are already on an IAPL panel or have submitted an abstract, it is not possible
to be on the program twice.
Many
thanks for considering this invitation and I look forward to seeing you some of
you in
