Fully Funded Studentship at Loughborough University

The Department of Information Science and Leicestershire Constabulary are jointly offering a fully-funded PhD studentship to UK/EU applicants. The UK/EU university tuition fee will be paid for three years and the successful applicant will also receive an annual tax-free stipend at the EPSRC standard rate (£13 290 for 2009/10).

The PhD study will form part of a programme of research activity that aims to identify ways of finding strategic savings whilst improving customer focus and enhancing public confidence through re-engineering information and knowledge processes in a UK police Force. The focus of the PhD study will be on optimising information and knowledge processes, and the successful applicant will be co-supervised by Dr Thomas Jackson and Dr Louise Cooke.

Applicants should have:

 *   A first class honours or a good upper second class degree in any of the following subjects - computer science, information science, business studies or knowledge management.
 *   An interest in strategic management and process improvement.
 *   Excellent interpersonal skills.

In addition, experience of working in a public sector organisation would be advantageous.

The successful applicant will join the Department of Information Science<http://www.lboro.ac.uk/departments/dis/>, which has a thriving PhD community. S/he will be based at Loughborough University but there will be a requirement to travel to collect empirical data (all travel expenses will be covered by the studentship) and to attend meetings.

Deadline for submission of the full application is 26th February 2010 and it is anticipated that interviews will take place shortly after. The successful applicant will be expected to register on 1st April 2010.
