Well it was RCAHMS who gave me copies of ours and they definitely referred to it as the Original Name Books.

If they have changed that it would be handy to be told!

I’m afraid I have to agree with Sarah. It’s Original Name Book in our HER because it was imported that way from the NMRS years ago. But the NMRS has since corrected their entries to Object Name Book, and they are listed this way in the National Archives too! This bit of data cleaning has been on my list for some time.

In my source records there is something called "Revision ONB" and I can't work out what the initials stand for. I think they may be something to do with the Ordnance Survey.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Liz
