New MAs in

·         International Social Policy; and

·         International Social Policy & Organised Civil Society

These Masters programmes are now available from the School of Social Policy, Sociology & Social Research (SSPSSR) at  the University of Kent. We are the  UK’s  European university, and deliver the programme  in the historic city of Canterbury, with access by train to London (1 hour) , Paris (2 hrs) and Brussels.

·         The MA is a 12 month full-time or 24-month part-time course at an advanced level, taught by leading academics in international and comparative social policy. A 9 month Diploma option is also available.


The courses will allow you to develop:
•       Advanced understanding of current debates, theories and concepts relevant to international social policy
•       Country-specific as well as cross-national empirical and theoretical knowledge of current challenges and processes of transformation of welfare systems.
•       An understanding of, and capacity to think critically about, the key policy contributions of, and roles fulfilled by, the State, the market, and civil society  
•       Skills in research design and data collection in areas relevant to, or forming part of, social policy.
•       Familiarity with using the primary and secondary data needed to develop research in international social policy

•       Design Philosophy and Ethics of Social Enquiry (both programmes)

•       Techniques of data analysis (both programmes)

•       Organised civil society and the third sector (core for ISPOCS only)

•       Key issues in international social policy (core for ISP only)

Help with fees:
