DETAILS

This international conference, the first of two on plurilingualism and pluriculturalism, will bring together researchers and practitioners to discuss plurilingual and pluricultural education with a particular focus on ‘languages of the wider world’: such as those of Asia, the Middle East, Africa, Eastern Europe, Scandinavia and the Netherlands.

 

Participants at this conference will define, analyse and explore new directions and paradigms for plurilingual and pluricultural education. The conference will also provide opportunities for further research and collaboration.  The main themes of the conference are: i) “Plurilingualism, multilingualism, language policies and planning”; ii) “Plurilingualism, identity and citizenship”; iii) “Language and intercultural education and innovation”; and iv) “Teaching Languages of the Wider World around the World” and “Teaching African Languages around the World”.

The second of the two international conferences will be held at INALCO in Paris from 17th till 19th June 2010.
